Personalized Everyday First Aid Kit

For those of you who are accident prone like me, or just want to always be prepared, I'd suggest carrying around a small, personalized first aid kit. Because I am constantly running into things, breaking things, and getting into fights with incredibly hot or sharp inanimate objects (where they, more often than not, come out the victor) I've become accustomed to carrying around a small first aid kit that fits in my bag. The problem? I frequently have to use the stuff in my kit, but I always forget to replace the used items and the things that are left over are the things I never need.

So, I've decided to take my mini-first aid kit to the next level. Along with the things that people usually have in their first aid kit, I'm personalizing mine to fit my needs. Here's my shopping list separated into two categories: things every kit should have and things I, personally, must have:

Should haves:

  • Band-aids (water resistant)
  • Antibiotic Ointment or Antiseptic (with vitamin E)
  • Burn Ointment
  • Ibuprofen
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Laminated list of Emergency Contacts
Personal needs:
  • Tweezers (I get splinters like you wouldn't believe)
  • Small thing of almonds (I'm hypoglycemic)
  • Energizing Multi-Vitamin (In case I need a boost)
  • Dramamine (I get random episodes of vertigo - worst thing ever)
  • Lactaid pills (I'm lactose/dairy intolerant)
  • Inhaler (usually I only need it for running, but what if I get kidnapped and have to run away!)
I know some of the things on this list are a bit outlandish, but sadly enough, I have to use all of them often. I can't decide for you what you personally need in your first aid kit but I have no doubt that whatever you put in there is something you NEED. A friend of mine has Hershey kisses in hers just in case she has a really bad day and needs a chocolate fix. If you're diabetic, or any sort of medical condition, then you'll need to make sure you have stuff in your personalized kit to help with that in case of an emergency.

In a couple weeks, when Kylar gets back from Guatemala, she has some ideas about how to create your own, small, personalized container.
