Apocalypse Survival Tip #7

Apocalypse Survival Tip #7: Don't live in the past, allow your brain to adapt to the new situation by focusing on the present.

In Chapter 2 of the US Army Survival Guide the focus is on the "Psychology of Survival" explaining that even the most prepared, well-trained person can be transformed into an ineffective (and in all honestly, completely useless) individual. The stressors that you'll face either put you in survival mode or crush you. Think about a post-apocalyptic movie that you've seen, it can be any one, the survivors have lost friends and family, their homes possibly destroyed, the world as they know it is gone - as is their way of life... that's a lot of negative to focus on. If you focus on what you've lost and how things used to be your brain won't have the opportunity to look at the present situation and adapt. Meaning, you're screwed. So, remember. Don't focus on the past, there will be a time to grieve later, just focus on the present so you can survive.
