Apocalypse Survival Tip #8

Apocalypse Survival Tip #8: Ration all non-perishable food items with care.
Lot's of people suggest that you lock up all the food in one place (assuming you're no longer on the move) so that people can't get into it whenever they want - and most importantly, so that people don't steal it. Food is going to be a commodity in any disaster. People can survive without technology (trust me, you can), and without the best clothes, and all the other stuff that we consumers crave. However we, as human beings, cannot survive without food and water. So, when you look at food in that respect, in an apocalypse food will take on a monetary value (since money itself will be entirely useless). Keep your food safe. Eat all the perishable food first, don't let it just go to waste. If you have it, eat it. Wait to break out your non-perishables until everything else has been eaten. Then, make sure not to over-indulge. Eat only what you need to survive. You need that food to last you as long as you can. The sooner it's gone, the sooner you're starving.
