I'd like to say I'm not dependent on technology. However, it would be a lie. I use it to do pretty much everything. But if it all stopped working would I be part of that 80%? I honestly don't know. I never really thought about this part of preparation for an emergency event, but learning how to survive basic tasks without technology just might be part of our upcoming training. Imagine if an EMP hit the US and all electronics stopped working... really think about this for a second... how much of your day to day tasks would suddenly seem impossible? It's possible. Our ancestors did it, and so could we. I am not suggesting you give up all technology and join the Amish, not at all. Cause there is no way I'd give up electricity and TV if it's still an option. We just have to make sure we aren't too dependent on the tech, and that if worse came to worse we would be able to survive without it.
